Honoring Dr. Stephen Clark

Stephen was instrumental in the development and launch of the HERO Consortium, and he was the kind of colleague people went out of their way to work with. Warm, funny, endlessly patient — he had a way of making whoever he was talking to feel like the most capable person in the room. That instinct is what made him such a wise leader and collaborator, and it is a large part of why the consortium he helped found grew the way it did. HERO now reaches more than 20 institutions and 40 investigators, thanks in large part to the strong foundation he helped build. The way we work together still carries his mark—he was generous with his knowledge and time, and kind in a way that asked for nothing back. Those who wish to extend that generosity to his family may contribute to the education fund established for his children.
